It’s a different version of the ‘therian’ trend [a person who psychologically identifies with an animal], reflecting the same worrying phenomenon: Many young people feel lonely! And, regrettably, little is said about that,” he commented on X. In another post, the cardinal advised young people: “The best way to aura farm is to approach life with hope and joy. I invite you to study assiduously and to prepare your body and soul well to serve others. What better way to aura farm than by thinking big and building a more just country! Pakistan Honors Christian Nurse Who Saved Baby From Hospital Fire: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Christian nurse Razia Noreen will receive the Sitara-i-Khidmat, a national civil honor, for her bravery during a deadly hospital fire in Islamabad on August 26. CCTV footage shows Noreen running into the burning nursery at PIMS and coming out just eight seconds later with a newborn in her arms. The baby was the only newborn to survive. Tragically, 14 others died. Noreen wanted to go back for the other babies, but the flames and thick smoke made it impossible. “I can’t sleep. Those babies keep me awake,” she later said.

Former Curia Cardinal Marc Ouellet has won his defamation lawsuit against Paméla Groleau. She had accused him of sexual assault. Quebec Superior Court Judge Martin Castonguay found her allegations unfounded and ordered her to pay Ouellet C$100,000 (€62,000) in damages. Judge Rejects Accuser’s Account Paméla Groleau, a former pastoral worker, accused the former archbishop of Quebec of inappropriate touching during several encounters between 2008 and 2010. Her main allegation concerned a priestly ordination in 2010, where she claimed Ouellet ran a hand down her back and touched the upper part of her buttocks. Ouellet denied the allegation. At trial, Groleau acknowledged that this was the only incident she considered sexual assault. The judge found her account “neither credible nor reliable,” pointing to changes and inconsistencies in her testimony. The US Department of Justice has concluded that the FBI improperly investigated traditional Catholics as potential extremists, monitored two priests and continued developing a controversial intelligence assessment after the bureau had ordered it withdrawn.
On August 28, the U.S. Justice Department released a 231-page report on the FBI’s 2023 Richmond Catholic memo, including evidence of surveillance of traditionalist Catholic clergy. The FBI investigated two priests and conducted surveillance connected to them. One belonged to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X (FSSPX); the other, his uncle, was associated with SSPX Resistance and had been ordained by Bishop Richard Williamson. Agents researched travel and credit-card records. FBI personnel in Boston surveilled the second priest at the airport, while Customs and Border Protection questioned him and searched his phone. Both investigations were subsequently closed after the FBI found no identified national-security threat and no alleged violation of federal law. Some evangelical groups in India’s western state of Maharashtra are asking Christians to sign declarations confirming that they attend prayer meetings voluntarily. Maharashtra’s Freedom of Religion Law, which targets “forced religious conversions,” took effect on August 28. It prohibits conversions involving force, fraud, coercion, undue influence or inducement. Christian groups fear its broad provisions could be applied to ordinary religious or charitable activities. The forms, reported in Mumbai and neighbouring districts, state that Christians attend of their own choice, without pressure, inducement or threats. Some churches also request a photograph and an Aadhaar or PAN identification number. The declarations are not required by the government. The move follows several disruptions of Christian gatherings. Catholic baptisms in Ireland fall 30% in a decade: According to an Iona Institute report published on 18 August, Catholic baptisms in Ireland fell by 30% between 2015 and 2025. The study is based on figures from almost every diocese on the island. Falling birth rates account for around 60% of the decline, with growing secularisation accounting for the rest. The number of births fell by 18.8% across Ireland, including by 17.9% in the Republic and by 21.3% in Northern Ireland. Dublin recorded a 39.9% decrease in baptisms, falling from 15,759 to 9,465.
Bishop Wilhelm Krautwaschl of Graz-Seckau, Austria, has prohibited the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) from holding its annual public Rosary prayer on October 4 inside the Basilica of Mariazell. It is one of the most important Marian shrines in Austria. The annual ceremony in the basilica included Rosary, Litany of Loreto, Marian hymns and a blessing - but no sacraments. Fsspx.at announced the decision on August 27, adding that a pilgrimage will take place with a modified program. The FSSPX’s rosary prayer in Mariazell has existed for half a century.
