Saint Pio of Pietrelcina Feast September 23 Francesco was born in the small Italian village of Pietrelcina on May 25, 1887. His parents, Grazio Forgione and Maria Giuseppa Di Nunzio, were peasant farmers, but they recognized their son was close to God. Leo XIV awards Ratzinger Prize to theologian who attacked Benedict XVI’s Summorum Pontificum. John C. Cavadini will be awarded with the 2026 Ratzinger Prize, announced today by the Joseph Ratzinger–Benedict XVI Vatican Foundation. Pope Leo XIV will present the prize on December 19 at the Apostolic Palace. Cavadini, a professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, has written extensively on Ratzinger. Benedict XVI. appointed him to the International Theological Commission in 2009. Cavadini is an explicit critic of Benedict's Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum that liberalized the traditional Roman rite. “Conservative” Auxiliary Bishop Josef Graf of Regensburg, Germany, can envision ordaining married men to the priesthood. Monsignor Graf made this remarks during a holiday in San Genesio, South Tyrol, where he also helped with the grape harvest in a local vineyard. Oddly enough, I can 'envision' waking up and discovering a Church which nurtures vocations by holding to the Faith rather than deviating from it to suit the needs of prelates who should never have been ordained in the first place.
Mature married men have worked out as well in the parishes founded by Anglicans who converted to Catholicism and, of course, historically in the Eastern Churches, so I don't see what people are worrying about. As long as they don't offer ordination to married men under the age of, say, 45 or 50, I think they'd make an excellent and much needed source of new priests.

A 'ritual concert' featuring shamanic elements was held inside a medieval Spanish church. On September 18, Barcelona’s Romanesque church of Sant Pau del Camp hosted a “ritual concert” by Kuyay Santosha. The event featured ancestral chants, improvisation and music presented as a bridge between the human and "the sacred". Santosha describes her work through healing music, ancient spiritual ritual, and uses instruments including a shamanic drum. Tickets cost €25. Sant Pau del Camp is being used for the Novus Ordo.

Israeli Settler Who Attacked French Catholic Nun Acquitted The Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court has acquitted Yona Simcha Schreiber, 36, of criminal responsibility for a violent attack on a French Catholic nun in April. The court accepted psychiatric evidence that he was psychotic at the time of the assault. He could neither understand the nature of his actions nor control them, the court ruled. He was ordered to undergo compulsory psychiatric hospitalization for up to six years. The attack occurred on Mount Zion, near King David’s Tomb outside Jerusalem’s Old City. Security footage showed Schreiber running toward the 48-year-old nun from behind and knocking her violently to the ground, causing her head to strike the stone pavement. Schreiber initially walked away before returning and kicking the nun while she remained on the ground. He also assaulted a passerby who attempted to intervene.
