Isabel Vaughan-Spruce is being prosecuted again. The 48-year-old Catholic faces a new trial in January 2027 after pleading not guilty to interfering with an abortion clinic. Prosecutors say she stood inside a 150-metre buffer zone outside a Birmingham clinic on five occasions in 2025. Vaughan-Spruce replies she approached no one and simply prayed silently in her head. She was arrested over silent prayer in 2022 and 2023 and received a £13,000 police settlement in 2024. “Wherever we are permitted to be, our thoughts inevitably go with us,” she says. “Those thoughts should not be subject to censorship.” The new case is being brought under England’s national buffer-zone law.

That would constitute remarkably poor judgement from Rome even if Lizardo Estrada were simply another name passing across the Pope’s desk. But he isn’t — Robert Prevost knows Lizardo Estrada very well. This is not one of those tenuous Vatican connections in which two churchmen happened to occupy neighbouring seats at a conference twenty years ago. Estrada has described Prevost as his professor and his spiritual director. Vatican News itself describes Prevost as Estrada’s formator in the Order of Saint Augustine. Estrada studied under him at Trujillo, where Prevost taught Patristics and Canon Law and served in Augustinian formation. The relationship therefore goes back to Estrada’s formative years as a young religious. Teacher and pupil. Formator and seminarian. Spiritual director and directee. Fellow Augustinians. Later, fellow bishops in Peru. And now Pope and archbishop-elect. Is there anything improper about a pope appointing somebody he knows?
Italian bishop closes church after real-estate ad filmed at altar: A Catholic church in Ventimiglia, Italy, was temporarily closed after an estate agent used its altar to film a promotional video for a nearby property. Bishop Antonio Suetta ruled the unauthorized commercial use a profanation and suspended Eucharists until a penitential rite on Sept. 4. The parish priest was reportedly unaware of the filming. The diocese has also announced a formal complaint to authorities.

Philippine Couple Weds in Flooded Church: Leian Lieza Galang and Gilbert Chico refused to let flooding ruin their wedding in Hagonoy, north of Manila. The couple exchanged vows in waist-deep water at St. John the Baptist Church after weeks of heavy rain. Around 15 guests waded through brown water to attend. Despite the parish advising them to postpone, the couple went ahead: the bride shortened her wedding dress train and the priest kept the ceremony brief. “We didn’t mind getting soaked,” the groom told media.
Despite severe flooding at St. John the Baptist Parish in Hagonoy, Bulacan, Philippines, Leian Lieza Galang and Gilbert Chico chose to go forward with their Catholic wedding on Sept. 1. With their clothes soaked and fewer than 15 guests present, they stood before the altar and received the Sacrament of Matrimony.
PLACE YOUR COMMENTS IF YOU'D LIKE. 2027 UPCOMING MOVIE PART 1 VIRTUES VS THE SINS - THESE CLIPS POSTED ON SEP 4, 2026 ABOUT THE MOVIE: Virtues Against Sins: This film is being produced gradually under the supervision of the Church. It will consist of three parts. The first part presents catechesis on the virtues that counter sins, based on the doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church and the Doctors of the Church. Just as our Lord Jesus spoke in parables and used elements of nature and everyday life things and people. This movie will use elements of nature, humanoid (human like) monsters to represent the sins, and critters and insects to represent temptations. The first part will be composed of fantastical elements to describe how virtues oppose the sins within the soul, not outside but inside, the internal battle for holiness. The second part features real-life anecdotes addressing various life situations, as well as the crisis of faith within the Church. The third part will include mystical …Ētahi atu
Fr Edmund Waldstein, a monk and priest of Heiligenkreuz Abbey in Austria, will no longer teach moral theology at the abbey’s seminary. Rector Wolfgang Klausnitzer, 75, a diocesan priest, says Waldstein will not return to teaching during his tenure. Waldstein has defended the death penalty for heretics and Catholic integralism. He has now been removed from teaching and sent to Rome to pursue a further doctorate in philosophy. He has occasionally celebrated the Traditional Latin Mass.

On 3 September, SilereNonPossum.com published a video of Cardinal Mauro Gambetti at an apparently lavish private gathering. In the video, guests can be seen singing together in an opulent setting. 'Some sing while St Peter's Basilica falls apart,' wrote the outlet sarcastically, contrasting the surroundings with Gambetti's Franciscan vows and his public emphasis on humility, poverty, and immigration. SilereNonPossum has repeatedly criticised Cardinal Gambetti’s leadership of St Peter’s Basilica.
Saint of the Day Sep 4 - St Rosalia, Virgin of Palermo La Santuzza (the little saint) Memorial 4 September Profile Born to the Sicilian nobility, the daughter of Sinibald, Lord of Roses, and Quisquina. Descendant of Charlemagne. Raised around the royal Siciliancourt. From her youth, Rosalia knew she was called to dedicate her life to God. When grown, she moved to cave near her parent’s home, and lived in it the rest of her life; tradition says that she was led to the cave by two angels. On the cave wall she wrote “I, Rosalia, daughter of Sinibald, Lord of Roses, and Quisquina, have taken the resolution to live in this cave for the love of my Lord, Jesus Christ.” Rosalia remained apart from the world, dedicated to prayer and works of penance for the sake of Jesus, and died alone. In 1625, during a period of plague, she appeared in a vision to a hunter near her cave. Her relics were discovered, brought to Palermo, and paraded through the street. Three days later the plague…Ētahi atu

On August 28, the U.S. Justice Department released a 231-page report on the FBI’s 2023 Richmond Catholic memo, including evidence of surveillance of traditionalist Catholic clergy. The FBI investigated two priests and conducted surveillance connected to them. One belonged to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X (FSSPX); the other, his uncle, was associated with SSPX Resistance and had been ordained by Bishop Richard Williamson. Agents researched travel and credit-card records. FBI personnel in Boston surveilled the second priest at the airport, while Customs and Border Protection questioned him and searched his phone. Both investigations were subsequently closed after the FBI found no identified national-security threat and no alleged violation of federal law. Among the exhibits in the DOJ report is an FBI PowerPoint titled “Traditionalist Catholicism Overview” - essentially a rudimentary guide to the various traditionalist Catholic groups and sects. Remarkably, the presentation included …Ētahi atu

The University of Notre Dame's McGrath Institute for Church Life has published on July 17 a report containing twelve proposals for assessing candidates for the priesthood. Entitled, "Do You Know Them to Be Worthy?", the file was written by Father Thomas V. Berg and psychologist Timothy G. Lock. The report draws on research commissioned from the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) and a consultation held at Notre Dame in September 2025. The proposals concern psychological assessment, candidates with particular psychological or developmental conditions, and formation for chastity and celibacy. It addresses candidates with conditions including ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder and autism spectrum disorder. On homosexual attraction, the Notre Dame authors note that a pause in formation may "more often than not" lead to a decision not to advance a candidate toward ordination. The authors think the pause is needed to assess four things: - how the man understands his identity; …Ētahi atu
