An eight-month-old baby girl was swept into Lake Michigan on February 19 when strong winds blew her stroller into the water near Belmont Harbor in Chicago, USA. Her caregiver screamed for help. Lio Cundiff, 30, who reportedly does not swim, saw that the woman "was in too much shock to do anything". He jumped into the icy lake, grabbed the stroller, and held it above the surface to keep the baby’s head from going under. Passers-by soon pulled Cundiff and the baby ashore. The baby was treated and found to be in good condition. The man was hospitalized for monitoring and later released.

Man jumps into icy Lake Michigan to rescue 8-month-old baby - LifeSite

Mon Feb 23, 2026 - 2:29 pm ESTTue Feb 24, 2026 - 6:31 am EST
CHICAGO (
LifeSiteNews) — A man saved an eight-month-old baby girl from drowning in Lake Michigan after he jumped into its icy waters.
Lio Cundiff, 30, was taking a walk along Belmont Harbor in Chicago while wishing a happy belated birthday to his aunt on the phone when he heard a woman scream and saw a stroller with a baby inside swept into Lake Michigan by a strong gust of wind.
“I wasn’t going to let that baby die,” Cundiff, who reportedly does not swim, told Fox10 from a nearby hospital, where his heart was being monitored after the rescue.
“I immediately dropped my phone, threw my jacket off,” Cundiff told Block Club Chicago. “I realized the woman was in too much shock to do anything, which is more than understandable. So I thought, ‘I guess I’m going in.’”
Cundiff jumped into the water and grabbed ahold of the stroller, with the baby still strapped in.
“I just held the stroller up,” Cundiff said. “I was thinking …

‘De Viris Illustribus’ (On Illustrious Men) – Saint Jerome - Chapters 11-16

[Saint Jerome – IV-V Century AD; Stridon, Roman Empire/Bethlehem, Palaestina Prima; aged 75-78, Translation of the Bible into Latin – Vulgate; Doctor of the Church]
“Chapter 11
Philo the Jew, an Alexandrian of the priestly class,
is placed by us among the ecclesiastical writers on the ground that, writing a book concerning the first church of Mark the evangelist at Alexandria, he writes to our praise, declaring not only that they were there, but also that they were in many provinces and calling their habitations monasteries. From this it appears that the church of those that believed in Christ at first, was such as now the monks desire to imitate, that is, such that nothing is the peculiar property of any one of them, none of them rich, none poor, that patrimonies are divided among the needy, that they have leisure for prayer and psalms, for doctrine also and ascetic practice, that they were in fact as Luke declares believers were at first at Jerusalem. They say that under Caius Caligula …More

"Chapter 16 - St. Ignatius
From Syria even unto Rome I fight with wild beasts, by land and by sea, by night and by day, being bound amidst ten leopards, that is to say soldiers who guard me and who only become worse when they are well treated. Their wrong doing, however is my schoolmaster, but I am not thereby justified. May I have joy of the beasts that are prepared for me; and I pray that I may find them ready; I will even coax them to devour me quickly that they may not treat me as they have some whom they have refused to touch through fear. And if they are unwilling, I will compel them to devour me. Forgive me my children, I know what is expedient for me."

U.S. Bishops Don’t Give A Damn About The Victims Of Illegal Alien Crimes

On Monday this week, President Trump honored victims of illegal alien violence by signing a proclamation designating February 22 as “Angel Family Day.” The date was chosen in remembrance of Laken Riley who was murdered by an illegal alien in 2024. Several family members of murder victims gave heart-wrenching statements at the ceremony.
But America’s heartless bishops failed to even acknowledge this proclamation and the victims it represents (four days after the event, a Google search yielded exactly zero statements from U.S. bishops on the Angel Family proclamation). Since Monday, our Catholic bishops instead issued statements attacking the Trump administration for its immigration enforcement efforts and advocating for migrants who are in this nation illegally. Two years after the bruttal murder of Laken Riley, the USCCB has STILL NOT issued any statement about this terrible tragedy (a search on their website still yields zero results).
At his State of the Union address on …

German Bishops' Conference Accepts "Synodal Conference" to Rule Over Individual Bishops

The German bishops have accepted on February 24 the statutes for the future ‘Synodal Conference’ at its plenary meeting in Würzburg.
The statutes go now to the Vatican for approval before the body will be established.
Bishop Georg Bätzing of Limburg has repeatedly emphasized that Archbishop Filippo Iannone, Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops, has received the text informally months ago.
Shared Decision-Making Between Bishops and Laity
The Synodal Conference is a permanent national body responsible for deciding on nationwide Church issues and thus gaining power over individual bishops.
According to the adopted statutes, the Synodal Conference "deliberates and adopts resolutions in accordance with 'synodal decision-making processes' on significant ecclesiastical matters of supra-diocesan importance".
Current plans for the "Synodal Conference" want to include 27 diocesan bishops, 27 lay members, and 27 further elected representatives.
If approved by Leo XIV, the Synodal Conference will …More

‘Commentary on the Apocalypse’ by Saint Victorinus - From the Second Chapter – part 1 of 1 – points 2-18

[Saint Victorinus – III-IV Century AD; Roman Greece/Pettau, Roman Greece; Spiritual Writer; Martyr under Diocletian]
From the Third Chapter
“The fifth class, company, or association of saints, sets forth men who are careless, and who are carrying on in the world other transactions than those which they ought— Christians only in name.
And therefore He exhorts them that by any means they should be turned away from negligence, and be saved; and to this effect He says:—
2. Be watchful, and strengthen the other things which were ready to die; for I have not found your works perfect before God. For it is not enough for a tree to live and to have no fruit, even as it is not enough to be called a Christian and to confess Christ, but not to have Himself in our work, that is, not to do His precepts.
The sixth class is the mode of life of the best election. The habit of saints is set forth; of those, to wit, who are lowly in the world, and unskilled in the Scriptures, and who hold the faith …More

…The SSPX’s denunciations of Vatican II as containing “heretical” doctrines, its demonization of the papally approved Novus Ordo as “dangerous to souls,” and its vigorous criticisms of all post-conciliar papacies as riddled with “modernism” have now reached a point of theological incoherence. (Lionel: We now know that we can interpret Vatican Council II with a Rational or Irrational Premise and the conclusion is different. The Council interpreted irrationally is heretical and schismatic and should be rejected. However the SSPX and Larry Chapp can interpret the Council rationally and the conclusion will be orthodox) The rationale given by the SSPX for the “need” to ordain new bishops is that the broader Church now lacks the means to provide souls with salvific grace. Since Vatican II was declared by the Pope who called it and the Pope who closed it as pastoral and non-dogmatic, believers are both free to ignore it while remaining obliged to cling to the prior dogmatic councils.
The fact that it can be interpreted as magisterial and apostolic but can also be interpreted contrary to prior dogmatic councils makes Vatican II unworthy of consideration. We have a rich library of clear and definitive Apostolic teaching. Wasting time on ambiguous pastoral texts is a distraction.

Tom Homan dismissed Pope Leo’s criticism of President Donald Trump’s deportation policies on Wednesday by comparing the fortified walls around the Vatican to the United States’s own border security efforts.
During a brief encounter with reporters, Homan was asked about Leo’s comments condemning mass deportations, including that the U.S. is doing them in a “disrespectful” way. Homan said Vatican City itself is a walled state and that the pontiff should focus on the Catholic Church’s “own issues.”

‘The Perpetual Virginity of Mary’ by Saint Jerome – Proposition 1st. That Joseph was only putatively, not really, the husband of Mary – points 5-9

[Saint Jerome – IV-V Century AD; Stridon, Roman Empire/Bethlehem, Palaestina Prima; Translation of the Bible into Latin – Vulgate; Doctor of the Church]
“5. This, however, is a point which will find its proper place further on. We must now hasten to other matters. The passage for discussion now is, And Joseph arose from his sleep, and did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took unto him his wife and knew her not till she had brought forth a son, and he called his name Jesus. Here, first of all, it is quite needless for our opponent to show so elaborately that the word know has reference to coition, rather than to intellectual apprehension: as though anyone denied it, or any person in his senses could ever imagine the folly which Helvidius takes pains to refute. Then he would teach us that the adverb till implies a fixed and definite time, and when that is fulfilled, he says the event takes place which previously did not take place, as in the case before us, and knew her not …More

"8. In short, what I want to know is why Joseph refrained until the day of her delivery? Helvidius will of course reply, because he heard the angel say, Matthew 1:20 that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And in turn we rejoin that he had certainly heard him say, Matthew 1:20 Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto you Mary your wife. The reason why he was forbidden to forsake his wife was that he might not think her an adulteress. Is it true then, that he was ordered not to have intercourse with his wife? Is it not plain that the warning was given him that he might not be separated from her? And could the just man dare, he says, to think of approaching her, when he heard that the Son of God was in her womb? Excellent! We are to believe then that the same man who gave so much credit to a dream that he did not dare to touch his wife, yet afterwards, when he had learned from the shepherds that the angel of the Lord had come from heaven and said to them, Be not afraid …More

Bishop Coll: young Catholics seek ‘doctrinal solidity, not adaptability’ - The Irish Catholic

Bishop Niall Coll, formerly Bishop of Ossory, following his installation as Bishop of Raphoe. Photos: Brian McDaid.
While Church debates continue about synodality and reform in preparation for an Irish Synod in October, Bishop Niall Coll of Raphoe has delivered a clear and sometimes firm message: the next generation of Catholics is not looking for endless discussion or progressive experimentation — they are looking for truth.
Speaking to a gathering of over 100 people at Kimmage Manor for the launch of Transformative Renewal in the Catholic Church, by Fr John O’Brien CSSp, Bishop Coll spoke about what he called the “I-Gen” — young Catholics born from 1995 onward and “Gen-Z”.
Far from demanding doctrinal change, Bishop Coll said this generation is showing signs of renewed seriousness about the faith. “Growing up (since 1995) entirely in a post-Christian, digital, morally fragmented culture they have no inherited memory of Catholic Ireland. Paradoxically, this leads many of them to …

The cowards compromise. Synodality is discussion of different views and experiences of flawed people. Catechisis is about passing on the Apostolic faith passed down from those who knew Christ and received solid unshakable inspiration through the Holy Ghost. The two are not compatible in any way. There are teachers and learners. Properly formed catechists listen to catechumens only to correct and deepen understanding. The Synodal process seeks to adapt Apostolic truth to the feelings, misconceptions and urges of those who need to be led.

Novus Ordo Must Be Accepted in Obedience - Cardinal Brandmüller

Cardinal Walter Brandmüller, 97, appeals on Diakonos.be (February 24) to find a rite of the Mass that finally corresponds to Vatican II. His main points, shortened for readability.
- It was not Sacrosanctum Concilium of Vatican II, but the post-conciliar implementation that opened a rift in much of the Catholic world.
- One must ask why Paul VI’s reforms was perceived as a break with tradition.
- The consequences were grave: arbitrariness and unbridled individualism replaced the Mass with personal compositions, even in ring binders.
- The result was liturgical chaos and an unprecedented exodus from the Church that continues today.
- Paul VI’s reform of the missal, though not without flaws, faced criticism that, while often understandable, was not justified.
- The “Novus Ordo,” promulgated by the pope, had to be accepted in obedience despite legitimate criticism.
- If Christ’s obedience unto death is made present in the Eucharist, it cannot be celebrated in disobedience.
- For some, …More

Robert P Hartley

No Pope has the authority to change the Traditions of the Church. The TLM is clearly part of the Tradition of the Church, and was codified by the dogmatic Council of Trent. Furthermore, the Novus Ordo isn’t from Vatican II, but was concocted after VII by a masonic archbishop and six protestant ministers. The Novus Ordo was rejected in 1967 by the college of Cardinals. Additionally, the Novus Ordo contains practices that are forbidden by the Church but were allowed to continue under “indults” that were granted once the abuses became widespread. Finally, any priest who has faculties to offer Mass in the diocese can offer the TLM for a group of Catholics. No special or additional permission is needed. No Pope, bishop, Monsignor or any other prelate of the Church can forbid the Mass. The Mass is the most important expression of Christ’s presence on Earth. The faithful have a right to the Mass and the priest has a duty to provide it.

Excommunications!!!

Even if an angel tells you a different teaching than ours, let him be anathema... Said St Paul, and you know, it's not him speaking but God in the Holy Spirit, now... Did Francis or Leo felt warned about being accursed? By their fruits alone you can say they welcome anathema like candy.
Both Francis and Leo have embrace heresy and APOSTASY, yet they want to claim obedience like if there could be any to Judas, or any betrayer of the faith... Today I understand why mons. Vigano received an excommunication from those false prophets, and I understand why he never went to confront them at their excommunication hearing, a false prophet has no power over the faith of a good man whose fear is to God alone, Vigano is the best living example of obeying God rather than men.
The SSPX will be excommunicated by a bunch of Judas who are trying their best to eclipse tradition and the magisterium, the false church is eclipsing everything with the world’s synodal church... It'll be a surprise if the SSPX …More

Leo, Francis, John-Paul, Paul VI and even Benedict acted (we cannot judge hearts) as if the Apostles got it wrong. They, possibly through poor formation, broke with the Apostles. They became out of communion with the Apostolic faith, a self excommunication as it were. The SSPX has retained the Apostolic faith and treated the Pope and hierarchy with the respect due their offices while not joining them in breaking from the Apostolic faith. How will Leo respond to consecrations? Hopefully he will receive, through grace, an insight which, to date, he has not shown, that apart from Christ and the Apostolic faith, every human is doomed. What a happy day it would be if Leo threw off the shackles of confusion (like Nebuchadnezzar) and joined himself to Christ.

BISHOP SCHNEIDER LIKE BISHOP FELLAY AND POPE LEO AVOIDS VC 2 WITH THE RATIONAL PREMISE : UNETHICAL

BISHOP SCHNEIDER LIKE BISHOP FELLAY AND POPE LEO AVOIDS VC 2 WITH THE RATIONAL PREMISE : UNETHICAL
Bishop Athanasius Schneider is asking for concessions for the SSPX but is not demanding that the SSPX interpret Vatican Council II with the Rational Premise and affirm Feeneyite extra ecclesiam nulla salus (EENS) The SSPX will then meet the Vatican requirement to accept Vatican Council II. The Council will then be out of the way, in their present tension.
Bishop Schneider himself is not interpreting Vatican Council II with the Rational Premise as did the SSPX General Chapter Statement in 2012. The Vatican did not accept it.
The bishop has called for a change in the text of the Council. So he is implying that Vatican Council II is a rupture with Tradition and so he wants the text changed. This is being politically correct with the Left and the Vatican.
If he said that Vatican Council II is not a break with the EENS of the Magisterium and missionaries of the 16th century, may be …More

"And yet He is the only true physician both of souls and bodies. On this account He often seizes this nature of ours wantoning in prosperity, and travailing with a fever of sins, and by want, and hunger, and death and other calamities and the rest of the medicines of which He knows, frees us from diseases. But the poor alone feel hunger, says one. But He does not chasten with hunger alone, but with countless other things. Him who is in poverty He has often corrected with hunger, but the rich and him who enjoys prosperity, with dangers, diseases, untimely deaths. ‘Three Homilies on the Devil’ ~ Saint John Chrysostom - Homily 1. Against Those Who Say that Demons Govern Human Affairs – points 4-5

[Saint John Chrysostom – IV-V Century AD; Antioch, Roman Empire/Comana, Eastern Roman Empire; aged 59-60, Archbishop; Church Father; Doctor of the Church; "golden-mouthed"]
“4. This argument therefore let us maintain throughout, and let us apply it to the case of the subject lying before us. God gave a speech common to all. This is part of his loving kindness to men. They did not use the gift rightly, but they lapsed to utter folly. He took away again that which had been given. For if when they had one speech, they fell into so great folly, as to wish to build a tower to heaven: had they not immediately been chastised would they not have desired to lay hold on the height of heaven itself? For why? If indeed that were impossible for them, yet notwithstanding their impious thoughts are made out from their plan. All which things God foresaw, and since they did not use their oneness of speech rightly, he rightly divided them by difference of speech. And see with me, his lovingkindness. …More
