“God did it”: Austin Applebee, 13, swam for nearly four hours in the open ocean off the coast of Western Australia to get help for his mother and two younger siblings, who had been swept out to sea while kayaking and paddleboarding. Battling strong currents and freezing water, he swam far beyond what most trained adults could endure. He says that he prayed constantly until he reached the shore: "I don't think it was actually me swimming... It was God the whole time. I kept praying, I kept praying. I told God I would get baptised."

Former Norbertine brother James Joseph Owens, 68, in New Mexico has been indicted for allegedly stealing more than $2 million from his religious community. He had served as treasurer and oversaw a construction project. He was arrested on 23 January and charged with eight counts of wire fraud, 23 counts of engaging in monetary transactions involving property derived from unlawful activity, and one count of tax evasion. Prosecutors allege that Owens stole the funds while managing the finances of the Norbertine Community of Santa María de la Vid Abbey. June 1st, 2024 Your Excellency, let me first thank you for agreeing to conduct this interview and let us know more about you, your background, and your apostolate. *** REX!: In August 2022 you have been consecrated a Bishop which means that you are now the seventh Bishop of the so-called “Resistance”. But let us start from the beginning. Born in Poland in 1987, you were probably attending Novus Ordo Mass and got a post-conciliar education. Could you briefly tell us about your way to Tradition and the priesthood? BpS: Yes, I was born in a Catholic family already in the times of the Novus Ordo. The post-conciliar Church in Poland was very conservative compared to the West, but I was never an altar boy at the New Mass, nor did I belong to any post-conciliar groups. I wasn't interested in it at all. In retrospect, I see that there was God's finger in it. But I was quite a pious boy and I had sometimes thoughts that I could become a priest, as is the case with many little boys. I made a …Hafa
A lonely girl on a tiny island wrote stories to keep herself company — and one of them changed children's literature forever. Lucy Maud Montgomery was born on this day in 1874, in a small village on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Her mother died before she turned two. Her father, stricken with grief, sent her to live with her elderly grandparents and eventually moved away to western Canada. She rarely saw him again. By all accounts, young Maud was deeply lonely. An only child raised by strict grandparents on an isolated farm, she had few friends and no siblings to play with. So she did what would one day make her immortal — she invented worlds. She created imaginary friends, gave names to the trees around her, and by age nine, she was writing poetry and filling journals with her observations of life on the island. The adults around her dismissed her dreams. In the late 1800s, the idea of a young woman becoming a published author was considered absurd by many. Montgomery didn't care. She …Hafa
